SGA Officers
BCC’s Student Government Association (SGA) members serve as the collective voice of our students. These leaders work to enhance college life experiences and lead the planning and implementation of special events including Fall Fling, Welcome Back Bash, holiday parties, coffee house gatherings, Spring Fest, service activities, and more. SGA serves as the liaison between the College Administration and the student body and is represented at all meetings of the BCC Board of Trustees. This morning, President Gene Smith, assisted by Student Events and Activities Coordinator Brooke Goff, swore in four 2023-2024 SGA members. They include President Ashton Watkins, Treasurer Evelyn Newsome, Secretary Marissa Gainey, and Public Information Officer Trinity Clark. Vice President Cy’neia Bellamy was unable to attend but will be sworn in at a later time. Please join us in congratulating our newest SGA leadership and working with them to make BCC the best of the best places to be.

VP of Student Affairs presents Heather Stull with Student of the Month award
Heather Stull, Student of the Month, doesn’t back down from a challenge. That’s one of the things Information Technology Adjunct Instructor Renard Spratling said when nominating her for the award. “Heather was a student in two of my development courses and admitted from the beginning that she had no experience with coding and was a little intimidated,” said Spratling. “Heather was also determined to succeed and wanted to challenge herself. Throughout the courses, she proactively communicated with me when she had questions or needed help. We also met via virtual meetings, and I saw improvement week to week. Heather has great potential to succeed both with coding and as a student at BCC.”

This afternoon, Heather was surprised with an awards ceremony attended by many members of BCC’s faculty and staff. Instructor Spratling participated via Zoom. Dr. Denise Houchen-Clagett, Vice President of Student Affairs, made the presentation. Congratulations, Heather, and thank you, Instructor Spratling!
