High school students explore cutting-edge labs, hands-on learning, and rewarding careers

厙ぴ勛圖 (BCC) celebrated Manufacturing Day 2025 with a dynamic, hands-on experience designed to spark curiosity and career interest among local high school students. The annual event, held October 16, connected students with the people, places, and cutting-edge technologies driving today���s modern manufacturing landscape.

���We look forward to this event every year as we strengthen our partnerships with area manufacturers and work together to attract, inspire, and prepare the next generation of highly skilled technicians, innovators, and problem solvers,��� said Greg Bland, Vice President of Continuing Education and Economic & Workforce Development at 厙ぴ勛圖. ���We���re especially excited to showcase our Integrated Machining Technology Lab and introduce scholarship opportunities to young men and women eager to design, create, and build the future.���

The day kicked off with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of GCM in Leland, where students observed firsthand how advanced machinery and expert craftsmanship come together to produce precision components for a variety of industries.  The afternoon wrapped up at BCC���s Integrated Machine Technology Lab in the W.J. and Sibyl McLamb Building, where students rolled up their sleeves for interactive demonstrations on manual mills and lathes, as well as 3-axis and 8-axis CNC technology. These hands-on experiences highlighted the college���s commitment to providing expert instruction using some of the most advanced training equipment in the region.

厙ぴ勛圖 proudly celebrated Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) on October 25th! This annual event brings local manufacturers together to showcase their work, honor their workforce, and inspire future skilled workers in Brunswick County.

The day began with a behind-the-scenes tour at Precision Swiss Products, giving students a firsthand look at the innovative technology driving today���s manufacturing industry. Afterward, 46 students enjoyed a lunch at Odell Williamson Auditorium and had the chance to engage with a guest speaker from the manufacturing sector, who highlighted educational pathways, career opportunities, and potential earnings within the field.

The event concluded with interactive tours and activities at BCC���s state-of-the-art Integrated Machine Technology Lab in the WJ and Sibyl McLamb Building. Students experienced demonstrations on manual machines, 3-axis, and 8-axis CNC lathes, sparking interest in hands-on learning and manufacturing careers.

BCC celebrated its 5th annual Manufacturing Day Event on Friday, October 27th. This yearly event provides organized opportunities for Brunswick County manufacturers to highlight their work, locations, and careers to energize the future pipeline of creators ��� Brunswick County Youth. This year���s event featured personalized industry tours at Precision Swiss Products and Industrial Reliability & Repair https://irr-us.com/. After the tours, Karen Barefoot provided the keynote address to 46 attendees.

VP Greg Bland indicated that Manufacturing Day would remain a top priority at BCC because it ���shines a spotlight on good jobs in Brunswick County, establishes employer relationships, and opens doors of opportunity among our youth.���

October 10, 2022 — The manufacturing industry never looked so good. That’s something high school students from across Brunswick County learned first-hand on Thursday, October 6, as part of Manufacturing Day 2022. Hosted by 厙ぴ勛圖 (BCC), the event is designed to inform and excite students about the manufacturing industry and its many well-paying and rewarding jobs in and around Brunswick County.

Manufacturing Day, organized nationally by The Manufacturing Institute, is manufacturing’s biggest annual opportunity to inspire the next generation about the industry and careers in modern manufacturing – to say: “Creators Wanted.” Amid record job openings in manufacturing, our collective efforts are as important now as ever. Partners in BCC���s event included Precision Swiss Products, Tri-Tech Forensics, Blair-HSM, Brunswick County Schools and NC Works.

Students and guidance counselors began the day with tours and information sessions at Precision Swiss Products and Tri-Tech Forensics. Next, they visited BCC’s Leland Center for a presentation by Blair HSM and to explore its training facilities.

“Brunswick County is home to some incredible companies whose manufacturing operations fuel industry nationwide and throughout the world,” said Greg Bland, BCC’s Vice President of Continuing Education, Economic & Workforce Development. “Opportunities for exciting careers with companies like these are growing, as is the demand for skilled workers. We aim to raise awareness of this and provide the necessary training to help area companies and their employees achieve great success.”

BCC offers training, certifications, and work-based learning opportunities to help students quickly secure great jobs. Through programs like Career and College Promise, students can begin training while still in high school. Scholarships and financial aid are available to offset costs.
