厙ぴ勛圖 officially dedicated the Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center during a special ribbon cutting ceremony held on campus on May 19. More than 100 family members, friends, community leaders, faculty, staff, and supporters gathered to celebrate the Lynes familys longtime commitment to student success and healthcare education at BCC.

The ceremony featured remarks from BCC President Dr. Gene Smith, Dan and Linda Lynes, and former nursing student and Lynes Scholarship recipient Dr. Katie Caison. Guests also enjoyed a reception, facility tours, and demonstrations inside the Health Sciences Center.

Although the facility has served students for several years, the ceremony formally recognized the Lynes familys lasting generosity and impact on 厙ぴ勛圖.

A building dedication is far more than placing a name on a structure, said Dr. Smith. It is about recognizing a legacy of generosity, vision, and belief in education that has changed lives and strengthened our community for generations to come.

Dan and Linda Lynes have supported BCC for more than a decade through scholarships, mentorship, and investments that help students pursue healthcare careers and other workforce pathways.

We are incredibly honored by this recognition, said Linda Lynes. We believe education changes lives, and supporting students at BCC has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives.

Today, the Dan and Linda Lynes Health Sciences Center houses programs preparing students for careers in Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Dental Assisting, Clinical Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy, and other healthcare professions. The facility includes classrooms, simulation labs, and hands-on learning environments that prepare graduates to serve healthcare organizations throughout Brunswick County and beyond.

Nursing Students celebrating 100 percent rate on NCLEX-RN Exam

Fantastic news, and impressive to boot! We just received word that BCC’s 2023 Associate Degree Nursing Class achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses, better known as the NCLEX-RN. What a huge accomplishment, especially given that this year’s test was a new version.

“The National Council of State Boards of Nursing revised the test to include next-generation features,” said BCC Director of Nursing Shaylene Ball. “This included real-world case studies designed to measure a nurse’s ability to think more critically when making decisions about patient care. Preparing students for the new format required many changes on the teaching front, but our instructors did an outstanding job, as did our students.”

BCC Associate Degree Nursing students were among the first to sit for the Next Gen NCLEX exam, earning a 100 percent pass rate on the first try. Congratulations to all!

If you’re considering applying to BCC’s 2024 Nursing Program, please register for one of our upcoming Information Sessions. To learn more, visit our website at brunswickcc.edu or email ballb@brunswickcc.edu.

The population of Brunswick County is growing at warp speed, with an increase of 32 percent in the last decade alone. With that growth has come an increased demand for quality dental care, something 厙ぴ勛圖 (BCC) will soon be helping to fulfill. Beginning this fall, Dental Assisting will become part of BCC’s Health Sciences offerings, thanks to a $424,850 High-Cost Workforce Grant from the State Board of Community Colleges.

The program involves a partnership with the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine Community Service Learning Center in Bolivia, where students will complete the practical part of their training. “We are incredibly excited to offer this new opportunity to our students and community,” said Dr. Kevin Lee, BCC’s Vice President of Academic Affairs & Chief Academic Officer. “Our partnership with ECU will provide a unique opportunity for our students to learn in a clinical lab setting with actual patients, right here in Brunswick County. Combined with classroom instruction, students can sit for certification in just two semesters.”

The BCC program will consist of 325 instructional hours and begin this fall with a class of 12 students per semester. The college is one of 14 colleges awarded funding based on their full-time enrollment.

For more information on the program and how to apply, contact OneStop Student Services in the Administration Building on BCC’s main campus. You can also reach them by email at泭onestop@brunswickcc.edu泭or by phone at (910) 755-7320.
