Coating and Adhesives Corporation employees participated in a comprehensive hands-on fire extinguisher training session designed by 厙ぴ勛圖 (BCC). BCC enlisted the help of the Leland Fire Department’s Captain Matt Sellers to conduct the training.

After an introduction from BCC’s Director of Customized Training, Steve Hulon, Captain Sellers provided an overview of the fire station’s services, safety tips, and fire extinguishers employees can expect to find at their workplace. He trained employees on how to operate the extinguishers and maintain them safely. Employees participated in a timed exercise, allowing each to fight a simulated fire. This event exemplifies the hundreds of Customized Training programs designed by the college for companies of all shapes and sizes throughout Brunswick County, NC.

“Our goal is to foster and support the job growth, technology investment, and productivity of the companies we serve,” said Hulon. “We work with companies to understand their goals and unique training needs and then use our extensive network of resources to design and execute customized programs.” In addition to safety, BCC provides training focused on improving communication skills, organizational effectiveness, continuous improvement, quality, technical and mechanical skills, and more. Contact Steve Hulon at (910) 755-7304 or hulonl@brunswickcc.edu to learn more.

Lineworker graduates, instructors and BCC Leadership

Theres nothing quite like knowing you have a great-paying job starting just five days after graduation. That was the case for the six most recent BCC Electrical Lineworker Program graduates. Over ten weeks, students spent 400 hours of instruction, earning more than 16 industry-recognized certifications and their CDL permit as part of this pre-apprenticeship program. Training requires both physical and mental toughness. Instructors Ronald Cumbee and Raymon Dickson say this class had an abundance of both.

All six graduates began work with Lee Electric this week! Thats what we call success! Congratulations to Jordan Barbery, William Carney Marcus Cribb, Jaheim Lewis, William Williams, and Ian Williamson. Graduation also included the presentation of the Colby Haitcock Memorial Scholarship to Jordon Barbery. This $500 scholarship is in memory of Colby, an excellent young many who dreamed of being an electrical lineworker but left us far too soon.

As always, we thank for helping make this course possible. You are a true partner, and we could not be more grateful.

If you think a career as an electrical lineworker may be for you, contact us ASAP. There are a few slots open in the next session beginning August 21. To learn more, call (910) 755-7320 or email onestop@brunswickcc.edu today! For event photos, visit and follow the BCC Facebook page at

Electrical Lineworker Program graduates celebrating

April is Lineworker Appreciation Month making it the perfect time to celebrate the success of the fourth graduating class of the 厙ぴ勛圖 (BCC) Electrical Lineworker Program. The second to graduate under the program’s new pre-apprenticeship status, this class benefitted from the expertise of instructors Raymon Dickson and Ronald Cumbee.

The class took full advantage of the hands-on learning opportunities and facilities offered by program partner (BEMC) and area electrical contractors.

“Each graduate earned 16 industry certifications giving employers even more reason to want to hire them,” said Marilyn Graham, Director of& Outreach. “These certifications also help earn the graduates a strong starting wage. We are incredibly grateful for and proud of our partnership with BEMC. It makes our program unique and consistently graduating lineworkers that are eager to put their new skills to work.”

The graduating class included Edward Chamberlain, Liam Cliford, Ryan Creech, Quinton Foust, Kevin Kaczmarczyk, Colton Nixon, River Parker, Cameron Prince, and Luke Thompson. Special congratulations go to Liam Clifford on receiving the Colby Haithcock Memorial Scholarship Award!

In addition to 400 hours of training to succeed in the electrical utility industry, students also receive resume and interview preparation.

“BEMC has supported BCC’s Lineworker Training program since its inception,” said Tim Tippett, BEMC System Operations Manager. “We’ve assisted with instruction, opened our outdoor training facilities to the students, and helped guide them to a successful start in the industry. Our partnership with BCC is very positive for the community in support of a high-demand trade. While this type of work isn’t for everyone, any BCC graduate pursuing a career as a lineworker will have no trouble finding great employment opportunities. We are proud to be part of such a worthwhile program.”

The next Electrical Lineworker Program class begins May 1st. For more information and to register, contact onestop@brunswickcc.edu or call 910-755-7320. For more photos, visit BCC’s page at https://www.facebook.com/BrunswickCommunityCollege.
